Life is often difficult with many challenges and obstacles thrown around and carelessly dumped in our path. I was looking for some encouragement when I stumbled across this song. (I actually borrowed the title for this post from singer Carrie Newcomer). If you wish, take a moment to listen to the lyrics to her song here: https://youtu.be/PRGnftH_g4I.
I tell my children and grand children “you can do this” as they face new challenges in life. What does life look like with these words echoing in our mind? When babies start learning to walk and talk we encourage them, often with cheering and clapping.
How precious it is to hear “YOU DID IT!!!” or “KEEP TRYING, YOU CAN DO IT!” ?
Every one of us needs someone in our life to say this to us.
When this phrase is embedded in our own self talk then:
How much easier would it be when we have our first day of school or go to our first day on a new job?
Or,
How much better to face the bully at work or the angry boss if we have someone to tell us “I know this will be hard, but you can do this!”?
If you have never had anyone say to you “This is hard, but you will get through it, you can do this”, then I am saying it now.
Adopting this belief will make you the super hero of your life.
You can do this hard thing.

I love this song. Thanks for linking it to YouTube with the lyrics. Positive self-talk is something I am always working on.
Thank you for your feedback! I love music and believe it has the power to help heal us. Positive self talk is can change our lives for the better, that is why I talk about it in different ways. I too am still working to keep up my positive self talk as well.
